Mondelange

Monde Lange ( German Monde Lingen ) is a commune with a population of 6058 ( effective 1st January 2011) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Ouest and the Canton Fameck.

Geography

Mondelange located ten kilometers south of Thionville and 15 kilometers north of Metz, near the mouth of the Orne in the Moselle at an altitude 154-162 m above sea level. The municipal area covers 4.1 km ². Together with the communities Amneville, Hagondange, Gandrange, Talange and Richemont forms Monde Long a closed settlement area

History

An occupied by the late urnfield time until the start of Roman burial ground shows the prehistoric occupation of the site. Mondelange was from 1812 to 1921 part of the neighboring municipality of Richemont.
