Mondorff
Mondorff ( German Mondorf, Lorraine Munneref ) is a commune with 574 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Est and Canton Cattenom.
Geography
Mondorff is located about 17 kilometers northeast of Thionville on the Luxembourg border at an altitude 187-263 m above sea level, the average height is 192 m. The municipality covers 3.84 km ² ( 384 ha), and a population density of 137 inhabitants per km ².
History
Mondorff is the southern part of the larger community Luxembourg Mondorf / Mondorf- les- Bains, who had come in 1769 to France. From 1871 to 1918 as well as 1940-1944 Mondorff belonged to the German Empire.
