Mongi Slim

Mongi Slim ( September 1, 1908 *, † October 23, 1969 ) was a Tunisian politician and diplomat.

After studying law in Paris, he was a member of the Nationalist Party of Tunisia, took over in 1936-1946 important posts. In 1950 he took over as ambassador to the United States. In 1954, he was Chief Negotiator for the negotiations in Paris that led to Tunisia's independence in 1955. As interior minister, he took part in further negotiations in Paris, which eventually resulted in the independence of his country.

After joining the UN in his country, he was chief of the Tunisian delegation to the United Nations. As Permanent Representative of Tunisia, he was a member of the UN Security Council (1959 /60). From 1961 to 1962 he was president of the UN General Assembly.

From 1962 to 1964 he was finally Tunisian Foreign Minister.
