Mongkhon

A Mongkon ( Thai: มงคล, also Mongkhon or Mong Kon) is a headgear that of Muay Thai athletes at the traditional dance, the Wai Khru Ram Muay, is carried before the fight.

The fighters believe that wearing the Mongkon as an amulet will bring them success and to protect them from danger. The athletes may get the Mongkon by the trainer, if satisfied of the learned skills. The Mongkon should never go directly into the vicinity of the bottom or even on the floor because he is losing his powers. Mongkons are usually worn only in Thailand, in other countries such as Cambodia or Burma is not wearing usual.
