Monica Valvik

Grethe Monica Eikild Valvik - Valen, Valen born, ( born September 15, 1970 in Porsgrunn ) is a former Norwegian cyclist and road world champion.

In 1987, Monica Valvik - Valen first time Norwegian champion on the road, and indeed in the Junior Women. Five years later, in 1992, she won in a year, two national titles, in the road race and the time trial. They also won in the same year the Swedish cycling Tygrikescupen; these three successes they could repeat the following year. Overall, it was eleven times Norwegian Champion. She also participated in two Olympic Games; in the road race at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 she placed fifth. They specialized in tours; they won the 2000 Tour de Bretagne.

She was married to the Norwegian discus thrower Svein Inge Valvik. Her sister is the cyclist Anita Valen de Vries; the cyclist Gerrit de Vries is her brother.
