Monika Kallies

Monika Kallies ( born July 31, 1956 in Stralsund, after marriage: Monika Leschhorn ) is a former rower from the GDR. She won 1976 Olympic gold medal in the eights.

Monika Kallies the SC Dynamo Berlin took in the GDR Championships 1974 together with Irina Müller second place. In 1975, Kallies in the eighth, who triumphed in the cast Doris Mosig, Rosel Nitsche, Renate New, Kallies Monika, Bianka Swede, Ilona Richter, Christiane Knetsch, Viola Goretzki and control Ms. Marina Wilke at the World Championships in Nottingham.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, the woman Rowing had its Olympic debut. The boats from the GDR won in the six boat classes four gold medals and two silver medals. Monika Kallies had connected an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk after training for technical illustrator. She later worked in administration at SV Dynamo Gera.
