Monique Garbrecht

Monique Garbrecht - Nordenfeldt, born Garbrecht, ( born December 11, 1968 in Potsdam) is a former German speed skater, a trained physiotherapist and advertising consultant who has started for the Berliner TSC.

Monique Garbrecht spent her childhood in Kleinmachnow near Berlin. After moving with her parents Heather and Peter Garbrecht to Halle in 1979, she discovered the speed skating and already made ​​in the first season so much progress that she transferred to the Children's and Youth Sports School in Berlin. On July 1, 2000, she married her manager Magnus Nordenfeldt.

In her career she became Sprint World Champion five times (1991, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003 ), twice world champion in the 500 m (2000 and 2003 ) and twice world champion in the 1000 m ( 2000 and 2001). At the Olympics, she won a bronze medal in Albertville over 1000 m and in Salt Lake City, a silver medal in the 500 m. She introduced during her career on four world records.

On 1 December 2005 Monique Garbrecht - Nordenfeldt announced her retirement from competitive sports.
