Monique Kavelaars

Monique Kavelaars ( born March 20, 1971 in Appin, Ontario ) is a Canadian fencer.

Kavelaars 1989 voted Miss Teen Canada. Your athletic career she began as a modern pentathlete. Only at the age of 17 she began to focus solely on the sport of fencing.

Your greatest success Kavelaars as a member of the Canadian national team epee. At the Pan American Games in Winnipeg in 1999, she won the silver medal with the team.

In 2004, the team was able to first qualify for the Olympic Summer Games in Athens, reaching there surprising in the occupation of Monique Kavelaars, Sherraine Mackay, Julie Leprohon fourth place. In the individual competition Kavelaars won though in the first round against the South African Rachel Barlow, but then was defeated in the Round of 32 of the Chinese Li Na and retired.
