Petrogale burbidgei is a Känguruart from the kind of rock kangaroos ( Petrogale ). She lives in a small area in north-western Australia and was first scientifically described in 1978.

Features

Petrogale burbidgei together with the dwarf stone kangaroo is the smallest type of rock kangaroos and the kangaroos at all. It reaches a body length from 29 to 35 centimeters, a tail length of 25-32 centimeters and a weight of 1 to 1.4 kg. Their fur is soft, it is gray -brown on the back, the underside is lighter. There is a black tassel at the tip of the tail. As with most kangaroos the hind legs are longer and stronger than the front legs.

Dissemination and lifestyle

This Känguruart lives in Australia. She lives in a small area in the Kimberley Plateau in northern Western Australia as well as several islands of the Bonaparte Archipelago. Their habitat is rocky sandstone regions.

These kangaroos are nocturnal and sleep during the day in crevices or caves. At night, they go in search of food, which they seek wooded areas. Their diet should consist of leaves, fruits and buds.

Endangering

About the dangers of Petrogale little is known burbidgei. May find bushfires and the hunting by introduced cats dangers represents the IUCN lists them due to the small distribution area as "low risk" ( near threatened ).
