Monona County, Iowa
The Monona County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. In the census in 2010, the County had 9,243 inhabitants and a population density of 5.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Onawa.
Geography
The County is located in western Iowa on the east bank of the Missouri River, which forms the border with Nebraska. It has an area of 1,795 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. At the Monona County borders the following counties:
History
The Monona County was formed in 1851 from parts of the former Harrison County. It was named after the Indian word meaning " Beautiful Valley ".

According to the census in 2010 lived in Monona County 9,243 people in 4,339 households. The population density was 5.2 people per square kilometer.
