Mont Dolent

Mont Dolent

The Mont Dolent is located in the eastern part of the Mont Blanc Range. Just west of the summit, which reaches a height of 3820 m, culminate the three countries bordering Switzerland, Italy and France, the boundaries of the summit itself lies on the Italian- Swiss border.

This three-country summit is a magnificent pyramid, which has always had a great attraction for all mountaineers. Particularly impressive is the view of the mountain from the L' A Neuve- boiler.

The normal route starts at the Rifugio Elena and leads from the bivouac Fiorio (20 seats) over the Glacier de Pré de Bar for snow saddle at about 3580 m and a rockfall risk gully to the summit and the highest point with Madonna. Interestingly, wild and lonely is the Galletgrat from La Maye bivouac. Both routes can also be combined with each other. For a one-night only these two bivouacs offer. Popular Mont Dolent is also a ski tour on the Italian side.

Should also be mentioned a spectacular action of Mountain Wilderness, which took place on 1 August 1993. 60 climbers at the same time all four walls and ridges were increased. Thus, the project of an international nature park on Mont Blanc should support and also a sign to be set for peace between nations.
