Mont Tendre

The Mont Tendre is a mountain summit in the Vaud Jura in western Switzerland, about 15 km north-west of Morges. With 1'679 m above sea level. M. is the Mont Tendre, the highest summit in the Swiss Jura and one of the highest in the Jura Mountains. Only the peaks of the Cret de la Neige chain in France still tower over him by about 40 yards.

The broad ridge of Mont Tendre is part of the south-eastern, the Central Plateau to the nearest chain of the Jura Mountains. He is limited by the Col du Marchairuz in the southwest, the Vallée de Joux in the northwest, the Col du Mollendruz in the Northeast and the Central Plateau belonging to level the Jura foothills in the southeast. The Mont Tendre consists of several peaks that reach all at least 1600 meters. Upstream from the south, just above the village of Bière, the Cret de Mondisé is ( 1'525 m above sea level. M. ). In the southwest, beyond the Col du Marchairuz, the ridge continues in the Cret de la Neuve and Mont Pelé.

The 800 meters high, steep southeast slope of Mont Tendre is densely forested and is also known as Cote de Bière. On the crest of any loose forests, interspersed with Jura meadows with solitary spruce. The tree line is at about 1600 meters. Characteristic of the limestone bedrock of the Jura are the sinkholes and karst fields in the summit area.

In warm, clear weather offers from Mont Tendre views of Lake Geneva and the Savoy, Valais and Bernese Alps.
