Montallegro

Mont Allegro is a city in the province of Agrigento in the Italian region Sicily. The Sicilian name is Muntallegru.

Location and data

Mont Allegro is located 34 km northwest of Agrigento. Here live 2549 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012), who mainly work in agriculture ( animal husbandry, poultry farming and wine production).

The neighboring municipalities are Agrigento, Eraclea Cattolica and Siculiana.

History

The present city was founded in 1574. Before that there was a settlement on the Cicaldo Hill.
