Montane ecology#Subalpine zone

The subalpine vegetation zone is an ecological level stage in the mountains, which comprises the transition from closed forest ( montane zone ) to the alpine grasslands ( alpine zone ), so fluffed wood, curved wood and other vegetation types. The subalpine zone is in many mountains, especially the Alps, strongly influenced by the people and their livestock, thus they have developed typical subalpine and alpine pastures Rose hallways.

In non- Human-influenced areas treeline and timberline usually coincide, the forest ends in a closed front. Thus, a subalpine zone is usually weak.

In the Alps belong to the subalpine zone, the subalpine larch - pine forests, larch forests and mountain pine krummholz stocks, silicate and green alders. In the Eastern Alps the subalpine zone begins at 1500-2000 m, and extends to 2500 or 2800 m.
