Montauban-de-Picardie

Montauban- de -Picardie ( Picard: Montaubin - d'Picardie ) is a northern French village with 227 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality belongs to the canton Combles and since January 1, 2013 part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot ( previously Communauté de communes du canton de Combles ).

Geography

The community is located approximately six kilometers west of Combles at the Department of Road D64 Combles after Fricourt and at the Circuit de Souvenir, reminiscent of the Battle of the Somme in 1916. In the town are two British military cemeteries ( Bernafay Wood British Cemetery and Quarry Cemetery ), and a memorial cross.

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
