Monte Argentera

The Monte Argentera, often abbreviated to the Argentera is 3,297 m the highest mountain in the Alps. It is located in the Piedmont Stura Valley ( province of Cuneo ), a few kilometers north of the border to France.

The first ascent was made on August 18, 1879 by William Auguste Coolidge and his mountain guide Christian Almer and Ulrich Almer. They used to rise for a snow gully, the gully di Lourousa.
