Monte Conero

The Monte Conero ( kɔ ː nero, also Monte d' Ancona ) is a headland on the Adriatic between Portonovo and Sirolo. The Conero is 572 meters high and the only survey on the Adriatic coast between Venice and the Gargano.

The name comes from the Greek Komaros for the strawberry tree, which grows on the slopes of the mountain. For plants also include oak, holm oak, Aleppo pine and Mediterranean cypress.

Since 1987, the Conero is protected as a nature park. The Wild deposits includes badgers, stone martens, weasels, yellow-bellied toads, peregrine falcons, kingfishers and Pallid Swift.
