Routes to the summit

The normal route to the summit via the south ridge. The starting point is either the Simplon Pass or the Monte Leone hut ( 2'848 m). It rises above the Homattupass ( 2'867 m) on the Homattugletscher and about this in the Breithornpass ( 3,360 m), which is separated from the Monteleone 3'438 m high Breithorn. From the pass, the route over the Alpjergletscher on the south ridge and through this to the summit follows (easy job II degree). A glacier free ascent via the south ridge is possible if the Alpe Veglia or Alpje is chosen as the starting point.

A further increase leads over the West - southwest ridge. These will also be increased in the Breithornpass and tracked from here directly to the ridge to the summit ( little difficult, II degree).

In winter, the Monteleone can also be mounted on a ski tour.
