Monte San Pietrangeli

Monte San Pietrangeli ( in local parlance: Monsampietro ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) in the province of Fermo in the Marche. The municipality is situated approximately 12 kilometers north- west of Fermo and directly borders the province of Macerata.

History

As a small village called Petraia the place was known in early periods. In the 9th and 10th centuries the city was under the rule of the Duchy of Spoleto. 1537 then came the current name due to a wish of Pope Paul III. about. In 1808 the municipality of the province of Macerata. With the unification of Italy it was then part of the province of Ascoli Piceno, then 2005/2009 to move into the newly created Province of Fermo.
