Rivera, community Monteceneri
Monteceneri is a newly formed on November 21, 2010 municipality in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. It is located south of the pass of Monte Ceneri.
History
On 25 November 2007, the merger of the municipalities Bironico, Camignolo, Mezzovico- Vira, Rivera and Sigirino along the main transport axes with the located in the branch of the Vedeggiotals Medeglia and isone was approved by the voters of the municipalities only partially.
Since isone and Mezzovico- Vira rejected the merger and refused the State Council to propose a forced merger of the Parliament, has decided on 2 December 2008, the cantonal parliament, to form the new municipality of only the five consenting communities.
Some residents, however, had filed a complaint against the merger before the Federal Court given on the grounds that the merger of five municipalities does not match the project was voted on. The Federal Court has upheld the complaint in November 2009 and the Ticino authorities recommended a referendum on the merger of five municipalities.
Monteceneri should be based on the date of municipal elections. These were postponed because of the pending merger of 20 April 2008.
After the second referendum, the new church was finally established on 21 November 2010 approving the five communities Bironico, Camignolo, Medeglia, Rivera and Sigirino.
Political affiliation
The new municipality belongs to the district of Lugano. Since all villages are situated south of the pass in the Vedeggio Valley, and the previously belonging to the district of Bellinzona community Medeglia had no direct road link to their main town in Bellinzona, gives the sense.
Kommunanz with Cadenazzo
The community Medeglia brings in the new community Monteceneri a Kommunanz that Kommunanz Medeglia / Cadenazzo ( BFS-Nr. 5391 ). She was called up in March 2005 Kommunanz Medeglia / Robasacco and led to 31 December 2003, the BFS -No. 5020th After the merger in Vedeggio Valley has become final, she changed the name again and is now referred to as Kommunanz Cadenazzo / Monteceneri.
