Montedio Yamagata

Montedio Yamagata (Japaneseモンテディオ 山形) is a Japanese football club from the J. League Division 2

Montedio stands for the two combined together Italian words Monte ( "mountain" ) and Dio ("God "). Their home ground is the " General Yamagata Prefecture Sports Park " (in Japanese (山形 県 総 合 运动 公园, Yamagata -ken Sogo Undo Kōen ) in Tendō.

History

The club was founded in 1984 as NEC Yamagata Soccer Club (Japanese山形日本電気 鶴岡 工場 サッカー 部, Yamagata Nippon Denki Kojo Tsuruoka Sakkā -Nu ) founded. In 1994, the promotion to the then second-class Japan Football League. Once the club is renamed Montedio Yamagata 1996, he has always played second-rate and since 1999 in the newly formed J. League Division 2

Since it was difficult to find in the prefecture of Yamagata a financially strong sponsor, 1998, the " Foundation for Sport of the 21st century the Yamagata Prefecture " (in Japanese形 県 スポーツ 振興21世纪 协会, Yamagata-ken Sports Shinko Nijūisseiki Kyōkai ).
