Montefino
Montefino is a municipality with 1071 inhabitants and is located near Castiglione Messer Raimondo and Castilenti in the Italian province of Teramo. The town is a member of the Comunità Montana del Vomano, Fino e Piomba.
Geography
Among the districts ( fractions) are Bozza, Brecciata, Crocetta Santa Maria, Floriano, Manzitti, Marciano and Muraglie.
The neighboring municipalities are: Atri, Castiglione Messer Raimondo, Cellino Attanasio and Castilenti.
The municipality is situated approximately 36 km from the capital of the province, the city of Teramo and 27 km from the Adriatic coast.
History
The origins of the community extend to pre-Roman times. By the Sabines a fortified colony was established. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1150. In the Middle Ages a castle and several fortifications were built in the area.
