Monteleone di Spoleto
Monteleone di Spoleto is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 608 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Perugia in Umbria. The community is located about 69 kilometers southeast of Perugia at the Corno and directly borders the provinces of Rieti ( Lazio ) and Terni.
History
According to legend, founded by Achilles, the first settlement probably existed here no later than the 6th century BC. In the district Trivio settlement traces of the Romans have been preserved. To 880 a castle was built by a BRUFA, but which was destroyed again in 1100. Short stock had 1535 proclaimed Republica Monte Leonis.
