Montenach

Montenach ( Lorraine Montléch ) is a commune with 425 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Est and Canton Sierck- les- Bains.

Geography

The community Montenach is located about 17 km northeast of Thionville, near the border triangle Luxembourg -France- Germany. Montenach located in a tributary of the Moselle River, which is crossed by the Ruisseau de Montenach. The stream originates from the confluence of Leuk, bite Bach and Hangoldbach. To Montenach also the south to the village of Cold Weiller heard (cold hamlet ). At the bite Bach was born 1994, a 107 -hectare nature reserve.

History

The place belongs since 1661 to France from 1811 to 1820 and was part of the community Sierck.
