Montendre

Endre Mont is a commune with 3204 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Charente -Maritime in the Poitou -Charentes; it belongs to the district Jonzac and Canton Montendre.

Attractions

The Montendre Castle ( 9th century ) was built on the ruins of a Roman oppidum. The castle was enlarged in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 15th century. Still exist today, a round tower, a rectangular tower and parts of the walls of the plant. The rectangular tower is now the Musée d'Art et Traditions Populaires de Mont Endre.
