Montenegrin parliamentary election, 2009

The parliamentary elections in Montenegro in 2009 took place on March 29, 2009. The list of former President and current Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic was able to expand its absolute majority in parliament.

Suffrage

Montenegro is divided into a large and a small constituency ( Montenegrin Velika and Mala izborna jedinica ). Members of the Albanian minority choose predominantly in the small selection unit. Following the outcome of four reserved seats in parliament are distributed to the parties. The remaining seats in the Parliament are distributed according to the result in the great electoral unit. It is the D' Hondt method with a blocking clause of 3 % applies. A term of the Montenegrin Parliament ( Skupština Crne Gore ) is four years.
