Features

The case is relatively slim and tall, it has 12 to 13 turns. It measures in height to about 2.5 cm in diameter max. 5 mm. The last four turns take very little to the width, the flanks thus almost parallel to each other. The windings are externally flattened, nearly straight; thus are only slightly deepened the seams. The surface is nearly smooth, only weak growth lines are formed, which are applied a little stronger on the last turn. The transverse oval mouth surmounted the last turn something the aperture rim is widened, bent outwards and sharp-edged. In the mouth, and the last turn, there are some Verfaltungen the housing inner wall, referred to as main, moon and palate folds and belong to the " Clausiliar ", the closure apparatus of the case from which the family took its name. This complicated shutter apparatus allows the animal to close the casing when retracting the clausilium, a lid on an elastic stem which is attached to the spindle of the housing. The color of the case is light yellow to horn color; it is usually a bit darker towards the tip. Empty housing are translucent.

Emil Adolf Rossmaessler cited as the author of nature " Ziegl. ", But the description of nature is (probably incorrectly) attributed exclusively Rossmaessler. It was later determined the type species of the established by Boettger in 1877 Montenegrina genus. The genus Montenegrina currently contains more than 20 species that are native to the Balkans to Greece.
