Montereau-Fault-Yonne

Montereau- Fault-Yonne is a commune with 16,573 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Seine- et- Marne, in the Ile- de -France region. The city is sometimes just called " Montereau ". Its inhabitants call themselves Monte relay.

Geography

The city lies at the confluence of the River Yonne in the Seine. In this geographic location and the name of the city is due to: The name portion Fault ( sometimes Faut ) means nothing other than fall, falling, open out. the city would translated to German therefore mean something like " Montereau on the Yonnemündung ".
