Montes Secchi

The Montes Secchi are a mountain range on the Earth's moon with a mean diameter of about 50 km. They are located between the south-eastern edge of the Mare Tranquillitatis and the northwestern edge of Mare Fecunditatis. The name derives from the Italian astronomer Angelo Secchi.

South of the Montes Secchi run parallel the moon grooves Rimae Secchi.

The triangular mountain Secchi Theta was nicknamed Mount Marilyn by astronaut Jim Lovell during the Apollo 8 mission to the moon. The mountain in the picture is the triangular -shaped elevation lower left.
