Montfavet

Montfavet is a community district of Avignon in the French department of Vaucluse in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. The term " district " is somewhat misleading, since montfavet actually forms a real independent village center that has its own zip code 84140 ( The zip code of Avignon is 84000 ). Montfavet is 5 km from Avignon city away.

The village has a little less than 14000 inhabitants, making for Avignon a special administrative region, which represents a special deputy mayor.

Montfavet houses especially the psychiatric CHS on the hill at Montdevergues, the AGROPARC of Avignon and the airport of Château Blanc.

History

During the French Revolution montfavet was temporarily a separate municipality. 1794 was attached again to Avignon.

In the 1990s, the Association montfavet Commune Libre sat for the establishment of a truly independent community of Avignon one. Despite a broad popular support and favorable court proceedings ( favorable opinion of the Conseil d' État ), the project was never completed.
