Montgomery County (North Carolina)

Montgomery County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Troy.

Geography

The County is located just southwest of the geographic center of North Carolina, is in the south about 40 miles from South Carolina away and has an area of ​​1299 square kilometers, of which 26 square kilometers are water surface. History

Montgomery County was formed in 1778 from parts of Anson County. It was named after General Richard Montgomery, who was killed in 1775 at the Battle of Quebec.
