Montgomery County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Clarksville.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Tennessee, bordered to the north Kentucky and has an area of ​​1409 square kilometers, of which 12 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Christian County (Kentucky), Todd County (Kentucky), Robertson County, Cheatham County, Dickson County, Houston County and Stewart County.

History

Montgomery County was formed on 9 April 1796 Country of Tennessee territory. It was named after John Montgomery, a settler, Colonel in the Revolutionary War and leader of the Nickajack expedition against the Creek Indians.
