Montgomery is a town in the northern part of Orange County in the U.S. state of New York. The city comprises the three villages of Montgomery, Walden and Maybrook and had in 2000 a population of 20.891. Montgomery is named after General Richard Montgomery from the time of the American War of Independence (* 1736, † 1775).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 132.3 km ², which is 130.6 km ² land area and 1.7 km ² water surface. 25.2 % of residents lead back on Irish ancestors, 23.0% to 17.8% on German and Italian ancestry.
In this city, the famous motorcycle company Orange County Choppers has built their first workshops.
