Monticello is located in south central Wisconsin, 29.8 km north of the border to Illinois. Located on the Mississippi intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois is located 105 km west-southwest.

Traffic
The Wisconsin State Highway 69 runs along the western Ortsrandes of Monticello. All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways and within local roads.
Through Monticello the Sugar River State Trail, a running on the route of a former railway line Rail Trail runs for walkers and cyclists. In the winter the trail can be traveled with snowmobiles.
