Montignac-le-Coq

Montignac -le- Coq ( Occitan: Montinhac ) is a small French village with 132 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Charente in the French region of Poitou -Charentes.

Location

Montignac -le- Coq is located in the cultural landscape of the Angoumois, about ten kilometers ( driving distance ) southwest of the capital of the canton of Aubeterre -sur -Dronne at an altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. inst; Angouleme, the capital of the department, is about 43 kilometers away to the north.

Demographics

In the 19th century the place was usually between 500 and 600 inhabitants. As a result of the phylloxera crisis in the wine and the increasing mechanization of agriculture, the population went in the 20th century continuously back to the current lows.

Economy

The small village of Montignac -le- Coq lives for centuries of agriculture, and viticulture - the floors are among the Bons Bois of the vineyard Cognac, but the vines have been significantly reduced due to the slump in sales of wine in the last decades. Attractions
