Montirone

Montirone is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5071 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy. The community is located about 10.5 kilometers south of Brescia.

History

In the 11th century, the name Montirone which is derived from the Latin mons Tironis or of monti di terra, first known documented.

Traffic

Due to the west of the municipality the Autostrada A21 leads from Brescia to Cremona and Piacenza. The train station of Montirone lies on the railway line Parma -Brescia.
