Montjoyer

Montjoyer is a commune with 259 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes; it belongs to the arrondissement of Nyons and the canton of Grignan.

History

Montjoyer was a grange of the Cistercian Abbey of Aiguebelle, now part of the commune in the 12th century. As a church, it is first mentioned in the 15th century. In the 13th century Montjoyer belonged to the Counts of Provence, later king of France. 1759 exchanged Louis XV. Montjoyer against land that bordered the park of the Palace of Versailles.
