Montorio Romano

Montorio Romano is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 2043 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Montorio is located 51 km northeast of Rome and 33 km north of Tivoli. The village lies on a spur of the Lucretili north of Tivoli. The municipality covers an altitude 135-934 m asl It is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Sabini e Tiburtini.

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).

The neighboring municipalities are Monteflavio, Monte Libretti, Moricone, Nerola and Scandriglia (RI ).

Traffic

Montorio is located south of the Via Salaria SS 4 which leads from Rome over Ascoli Piceno to the Adriatic coast at Porto d' Ascoli. The nearest motorway exit Roma Nord is on the A1 Autostrada del Sole, 23 km.

The nearest railway station is located in Passo Corese at the regional railway line FR1 from Rome Fiumicino Airport via Rome Tiburtina to Orte, 18 km away.
