Montrose (Angus)

Montrose ( schott Gaelic Monadh Rois) in Angus is a small port town on the east coast of Scotland.

Due old name of the place has closed on a Norwegian settlement in the area of today's harbor as the origin. The name probably comes from Montrose Mouth Hrossay, a village at the mouth of the River Esk near Rossie Iceland. The first mentioned was the place under David I. ( 1080-1153 ).

The Port of Montrose is home to the industries of the North Sea oil companies. The Montrose FC is the local football team.
