Monty Westmore

Montague George "Monty" Westmore ( born June 12, 1923 in Los Angeles, California, † November 13, 2007 in Woodland Hills, California ) was an American artist.

Life

Westmoreland grew up in a traditional artist family. His father Monte Westmore and his grandfather George Westmore had been working in this profession and his brother Michael Westmore seized. He began his career in 1943 as an apprentice with his uncle Perc Westmore, who worked at Warner Brothers. He then worked for seven years at Universal Studios. Initially he worked without attribution uncredited among others, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Touch of Evil. Later he became a personal makeup artist of Joan Crawford and Paul Newman.

In addition to his film work, he also worked for television; he worked 1952-1966 for the sitcom The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet Ozzie Nelson and Harriet Hilliard with. In 1983 he was for the television production What is only the children? nominated Ann -Margret in the lead role for the Emmy. In 1991 he received an Oscar nomination for his work on Steven Spielberg's Hook. His most recent film work was the Grinch Stole Christmas in 2000.
