Moodswinger

A Moodswinger is a third bridge guitar that has invented in 2006 for the American band Liars the Dutch artist and musician Yuri Landman. Although the instrument is similar to an electric guitar, it is a flat board zither, since it has neither frets nor a neck.

The Mood Swinger beside an additional third, movable bridge. Pickup and electronic components are common in the neck and not, as with guitars, in the corpus.

Mood and overtones

The Mood Swinger has twelve strings in the quart - circle mood E -A -d -g- c ' f' ais' -dis - gis '' '' cis '' '- f # ''' h '' ' which are arranged in three rows of four strings. The third bridge divides the strings into two parts with different pitches. Depending on where the string is plucked, in addition you will hear a bell-like overtone.

Use

Landman built in March 2007, a second instrument, the Moon lander, for the band Sonic Youth. Afterwards further, among other things, the Bachelor QS for Jad Fair of Half Japanese and the Springtime for Laura - Mary Carter of Blood Red Shoes. In 2009, he developed a workshop version of the Home Swinger, for music festivals.
