Moomin World

Moomin World ( Muumimaailma ) is an association founded in 1993, a theme park on the west coast of Finland, whose central theme is the Moomins. The park is located in the town of Naantali, on the island of Kailo. To Moomin World you can only go on foot. The island performs a 250 -meter-long bridge from the old town of Naantali. The island of Kailo is a recreational area of the city, about two-thirds of its area is the Moomin available. In the winter time the recreational residence is also allowed free of charge in the parking area, because the Moomin World is open only in the summer months. In February, however, a week-long winter carnival takes place.

Idea of the theme park

The idea for a Moomin World was born when Dennis Livson, a TV producer who brought the Moomins on TV, visited the island. He thought that she looked just like the Moomin Valley of the TV series.

Awards

In 2006, the Moomin World was with over 280 000 visitors, the most popular tourist attraction in south-western Finland. The Moomin World also had international success: In 2005, the British newspaper Independent chose her among the ten best theme parks in the world; in 2008 got the Moomin the international price of leisure parks, the golden pony price.

Attractions

Attractions of the island include the Moominhouse that Emma Theatre and fairytale. In the theme park you can also make figures of Mumingeschichten. From Asia, especially from Japan, many travel to Finland because of it.
