Moon Jae-in

Moon Jae- in ( born January 24, 1953) is a South Korean politician. He ran for the United Democratic Party in the presidential elections of 2012.

Life

Moon was born in Geoje. His father had fled from North Korea and worked during the Korean War prisoner of war camp Geoje. Moon studied after high school law at the Kyung -Hee University. Because of his participation in protests against the Yushin Constitution, he was expelled from the university. Later he was after military service, the University of complete and became a lawyer. Together with the late President Roh Moo -hyun, he opened a law office in Busan, which was involved in human rights and civil rights issues.

2002 he headed Rohs election campaign and held after the election victory between 2003 and 2008 leading positions in the administration.

The winner of the intra-party primaries, he was nominated by the main opposition party United Democratic Party for the 2012 presidential elections. In the elections in December 2012, he defeated Park Geun - hye, the candidate of the ruling Saenuri party.

Since May 2012, he is a deputy in the National Assembly ( Gukhoe ).
