Moons of Saturn

The following list of Saturn's moons contains a table the most important data of all 62 known natural satellite of the planet Saturn.

Discoveries of a provisional number code until their orbits for predictions of path positions are known with sufficient accuracy; then they receive from the International Astronomical Union a continuous Roman numeral and get according to the tradition after agreement also confirmed a name from classical mythology. Until the late 19th century, the numbers have been assigned in ascending order of size of the orbits.

The improved viewing opportunities, both spacecraft and from Earth, the total number of observed moons rose from 2003 to 2009 per year, with the newly discovered but only have a radius of a few kilometers.

Not included in the list is the supposed moon of Saturn Themis, the discovery of which William H. Pickering announced in 1905, but was never seen again, and is considered non-existent.
