The Moorabbin Airport or Harry Hawker Airport ( IATA Code: MBW, ICAO code: YMMB ) is an airfield for general aviation, about 25 kilometers from the city center which is located in the southeastern suburbs of the Australian city of Melbourne. The site forms its own suburb; the surrounding districts are Heatherton, Cheltenham, Dingley Village, Mentone.

Originally, the airport should be named after Mentone. However, to avoid confusion with the French airport Menton, it was decided to use the name of also nearby Moorabbin.

Aircraft movements

In calendar year 2013, the airport recorded 225,020 aircraft movements, of which, however, 189 164 ( 84.0 % ) additional 35 756 (15.9%) related to aircraft under 7 tons and helicopters. Thus, the airfield is after absolute terms the drittgeschäftigste in Australia (after Sydney and Jandakot ), but only plays a regional role.
