Moore County (North Carolina)

Moore County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Carthage.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of North Carolina, is in the south about 40 miles from South Carolina away and has an area of ​​1828 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. History

Moore County was formed in 1784 from parts of Cumberland County. It was named after Captain Alfred Moore, a judge of the Supreme Court of the United States ( Supreme Court) and officer in the American Revolutionary War.
