Moore County (Tennessee)

Moore County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The County is congruent with the city of Lynchburg.

Geography

The County is located in southern Tennessee, approximately 35 km away from Alabama and has an area of 338 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Coffee County, Franklin County, Lincoln County and Bedford County.

History

Moore County was formed on December 14, 1871 from parts of Bedford County, Coffee County, Franklin County and Lincoln County. It was named after Major General William Moore.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Moore County 5740 people in 2211 households and 1686 families. The population density was 17 people per square kilometer.
