Moorhusen

Moorhusen is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography and transport

Moorhusen is located about 10 km north- west of the county town of Itzehoe away and is on the border of the march to the Geest. The village covers about two kilometers in length. North of the church is the Lord Moor, a nature reserve.

History

1247 Moorhusen first mentioned. Since 2005, 16 wind turbines are operated in Moorhusen. The construction of the first plants began in the late 1990s.

Policy

Coat of arms

The "coat of arms " of the community is not writable and thus no heraldic coat of arms in the proper sense, but assign the picture seals. It was chosen after World War II in the absence of official seals, which are free of Nazi and imperial symbols of the community and is still used today.

The architect Emil Thormälen was born in 1859 in Moorhusen.
