Moosach

Moosach is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg and a member of the administrative community Glonn.

Geography

Moosach located in the Munich region in the foothills of the Alps in a glacial moraine at about 500 meters above sea level. On the partly wooded moraine hills that surrounded the place eg to find the Stone Lake; a popular swimming lake in Munich. A bit further on is the nature reserve Kitzlsee.

Moosach is located about 27 km southeast of the city of Munich, 8 km west of Grafing, 16 km north of Feldkirchen- Westerham and 12 km from the district town of Ebersberg. The nearest S-Bahn stations are located in Kirchseeon and Grafing (each 6 km), Munich airport is roughly 52 km away and the A99 (junction Hair ) 13 km.

History

Moosach 1990 could look back on its 1200th anniversary, documented in a deed of the Diocese of Freising. The place name comes from the brook ' Moosach ' back: Ache flowing through the moss. The Moosach ( Attel ) arises from 7 sources at the foot of the mountain on which the monastery Maria Altenburg is.

Moosach belonged to Rentamt Munich and the Court of Swabia of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Parish

Moosach is the headquarters of the parish Moosach Association, whose members also included the parishes Oberframmern ( St. Andrew ) and Bruck (St. Peter and Paul ) belong.

The parish Moosach is first mentioned in 1325. The first evidence of the parish church of St. Bartholomew is dated in 1525. The church was rebuilt in 1777 and 1951 expanded. From summer 2010 until Christmas 2013, the parish church was closed for renovation and restoration work.

The pilgrimage church of "Our Lady in Altenburg " is mentioned in 1391 for the first time. The original Gothic church in Baroque style in 1711 and restored in 1975 and 1993/94.

Traffic

From 1894 onwards had Moosach a breakpoint at the local railway Grafing - Glonn, on this, however, the passenger and freight transport in 1971 was in 1970 due to declining ridership adjusted and shut down the route. The Moosacher station building still standing is a listed building, next to it is a piece of track with a former passenger cars.
