Moosbronn

Moosbronn is a Marian shrine in the northern Black Forest, about 25 km south of Karlsruhe. Moosbronn belongs together with Mittelberg for Gaggenau district Freiolsheim.

According to legend, the Moosalb was located in the vicinity of the source in the village Moosbronn of a powerful ancient lime a painted on wood Virgin Mary image. A farmhand, which broke the chain brake his vehicle plant on a steep mountain slope, called in 1680 the Blessed Mother Mary to help and the wagon stopped. Am Moos Bronner cemetery there is a parking, which is used by many hikers as a starting point for hikes to the Mahlberg. Very interesting is also the Grenzweg with its landmarks, which show the former border between Baden and Württemberg. The border between the Grand Duchy of Baden and the Kingdom of Württemberg was once straight through the town ( old landmark next to the Sanctuary ).
